Compost Happens, Water-Wise and Rain Barrel Workshop
| Water Start Date: 4/21/2012 End Date: 4/21/2012 When: Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM Where: Hillsborough County Cooperative Extension Service Office, 5339 County Road 579, Seffner, FL 33584 What: 8:30 AM - Attend a Compost Happens Workshop and learn to turn trash to treasure. You'll receive a free compost bin and thermometer too (1 per household and the representative of the household must be an adult )*! 9:30 AM - The Water-Wise workshop will teach you how you can have a healthy and attractive lawn and landscape while conserving water. Tips on installing and using micro-irrigation are also presented. This irrigation method not only conserves water, but is not as restricted by current water restrictions as traditional in-ground irrigation systems! Hillsborough County residents may receive 1 free micro-irrigation kit* (per household and the representative of the household must be an adult) when they attend a workshop. 10:30 AM - Learn how Rain Barrels are useful for collecting rainwater for irrigation while reducing erosion and stormwater runoff and how to make your own barrel using a 55-gallon plastic food-grade drum. Hillsborough County residents may receive 1 free rain barrel* (per household and the representative of the household must be an adult) when they attend a workshop. Hillsborough County Neighborhood Conference
| Water Start Date: 3/24/2012 End Date: 3/24/2012 Hillsborough County Neighborhood Conference Works To Connect Neighbor To Neighbor On March 24 The City of Tampa Water Department will be providing water efficiency information and materials at this year's Annual Neighborhoods Conference. • What: 9th Annual Hillsborough County Neighborhoods Conference • When: Saturday, March 24, 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. • Where: Hillsborough Community College, Dale Mabry Campus, 4001 Tampa Bay Blvd. in Tampa Hillsborough County Office of Neighborhood Relations’ Ninth Annual Neighborhoods Conference will offer 24 workshops this year to help communities brainstorm about making their neighborhoods safer, friendlier, prettier and more united. The Conference will be held March 24 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Hillsborough Community College, Dale Mabry Campus, 4001 Tampa Bay Blvd. in Tampa. The advance registration fee is $15 and includes an official Conference tote bag, a continental breakfast, admission to workshops, access to Conference exhibits and the awards luncheon. Registration at the door on the day of the event is $20. This year’s workshops include Do-It-Yourself Projects presented by Lowe’s Home Improvement Store; What You Need To Know About Code Enforcement; a demonstration presented by the County’s Code Enforcement Graffiti Abatement Unit; Gang Awareness In Your Neighborhood; Informing Your Residents Through Social Media; and Home Safety. Lowry Park Zoo will be giving away prizes, and conference-goers will have a chance to win a $1,500 landscaping package for their subdivision from LMP Landscaping.
